StorageMonitor: 196 -- Code not found

I have a recurring message as follows:

I have found information about determining the status from this message thread: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/183662

It lists the device status codes for 0,2,8, & 24.  I cannot find any documentation for a status of 40/0.

Any ideas?
