I'm trying to install ESX 3.5 on a new Dell 2950 through the DRAC. This is really just a dry run before I upgrade a server 1000 miles away. Through the DRAC I can boot the server from the ESX CD or ISO. It comes up and asks me what country, keyboard, language, etc. Then it tells me it can't find the CD in any CD-ROM drive.
If I boot from a Windows CD, I can install Windows on the server just fine. So the mechanics of using the DRAC to remotely install and OS are fine.
What's different about Vmware? Dell doesn't know.
