I will try my best to explain the issue I am seeing in my environment. I have (2) ESX servers with (6) LUN's presented to both, one host can see the properties of the LUN (see pic 1) but the other can't (see pic 2). BUT! If I rescan the HBA's on the second host, then it can see the properties (see pic 3) and then the first server that initially could see the properties, now it can't see them (see pc4).
Also please notice the vmhba numbers (ie, vmhbaX:X:X:X) before I rescan the HBA's (see pic 5) and the vmhba numbers after I rescan the HBA's (see pic 6), they change. Why? and should they? I know the pictures look similar, due to the sensitivty of our environment I cannot show details, but trust they are as I claim them to be.

The only changes I have made recently to my environment is, I changed on the first host to use the second path for all traffic on the HBA and the second host remained on the first path (basically a manual load balance). I thought this was the cause so I have since changed both hosts back to use the first path on the HBA's, which I guess is the default. Another change was I recently patched these hosts to the latest esx patches, but was able to replicate the problem even after a ESX reinstall without the latest patches released Dec.30th. I really don't understand this, I'll bw calling VMware support Monday but wanted to get a feel for what ya'll think first, maybe I'm overlooking something simple?
