My service console was running at 100Mb/full and all was good. But now I have copy my VCB full-image backups over it for restores. So, I moved it to a 1Gb port on the switch, and changed the ESX configuration to 1000Mb/full. However, I'm still getting very poor performance on my copies, only 3.6MB/s.
I'm using WinSCP to copy data from my VCB host to the ESX server. Is WinSCP too slow? What other tool could I use? I'd prefer to not screw around with the ESX firewall.
I know the VCB host is good, as I was able to reach 50MB/s throughput copying data to another Windows host (using Windows drag-n-drop copy).
The network admin has confirmed that both hosts are logged into the switch at 1000/full. He recommended I try setting to the nics to auto-neg instead of 1000/full, but no change. I've rebooted both the VCB and ESX servers. The network admin says he's seeing no errors on the switch.
Is it something to do with the internal configuration of vSwitch0 / vswif0 ? I can't see anything to do with performance. Traffic shaping is disabled on vSwitch0. vmnic0 is the physical adapter for vSwitch0 and is 1000/full.
Thanks in advance.
