core dumps filling drive to 100% = why?

Ok, now that I figured out how to get back into my ESX box (i.e. http://communities.vmware.com/thread/171356?tstart=0),

anyone wana help me figure out why something keeps filling up my /var/core with dumps - thus filling the drive from 46% (the usual) all the way up to 100%?
