hi,
just loaded up 2 new esx hosts, on boot to esx they both show " lvm:4469: vml. :1 may be snapshot: disabling access. see resignaturing section....."
so i go look at resig and figure that look like the fix, not realizing that it would resignature the SAN, i thought it would reset a local disk sig. it all looked ok for a minute, then i rescan/reboot the host and see the SAN show up as a snap, cripes now im hosed. there are 5 other hosts on the san with VM's on em', they are ok at the moment so, thought i would check em out just to be sure, i migrate all VM's off one of the old hosts and rescan storage, UGH now it sees the resignatured SAN and i cannot move any VM's back to it. the thing is i did not install ESX to the SAN on the new hosts but to a local HD on the new hosts. I have done this several times before now without incident. i have done a lot of looking around the forums but see nothing addressing the new install situation...
so my questions are can the resig be undone/fixed so it dosent cause problems for the existing VM's, and what went wrong with the install that caused the issue to start with?
Many Thanks
Randy
just to clarify i now have 2 datastores the one labeled snap (resig) and the original, with one host attached to the snap store and the remaining hosts attached to the original store, i have done no snaps at the SAN lvl
