I really don't understand why companies make it so difficult to perform dot release updates, but for some reason vmware insists that I uninstall a previous 6.x installation before installing the current one. PITA.
So anyway, to add insult to injury it refuses to uninstall because a file in the temp folder has been deleted, that is vmware server.msi.
Of course I was away for the holidays when I wanted to try again to get vmware working after it had failed the last time...luckily I dual boot and the other os (V64) was free of vmware installs so I could actually try to do something while away.
I get home, log into the server where downloaded files (like the install of vmware) are stored and try again to uninstall. NO DICE. Total failure even when access to the original file is there.
WTF??? Other than hacking the registry and deleteing all references to vmware how can it be uninstalled so I can try to install the latest version because the last version failed to operate correctly?
Or do I have to just hack the registry to uninstall it every time vmware needs a minor dot update?
