I have an ESX 3.5 server with some local storage and also some iSCSI storage attached using the software initiator.
When I copy a file from local -> iSCSI it takes a fraction of the time that it takes to copy the same file from iSCSI -> local.
Bascially it appears to be 40 times slower to copy FROM iSCSI than to copy TO iSCSI.
I repeated the test using a windows box with the bog standard windows iSCSI initiator to the same iSCSI target (different LUN formatted using NFTS) and it was quick in both directions so I suspect the culprit is not the iSCSI target but the VMWare initiator
Anyone got any ideas as to the cause or how to go about starting to diagnose the problem?
Thanks in advance,
Phil
