After placing all the VMware critical and recommended patches, there was a VMware Tools upgrade included. These were applied to all servers in my environment. Now when I log into my servers 50% ran the upgrade of VMware tools successfully. The other 50% of my virtual servers, I have tried installing the VMware tools upgrade in multiple ways, and all I get is a popup Windows Installer window that shows me the install option switches.
I have tried installing by mounting the CD and running setup.exe. I have tried clicking on the UPGRADE button in the VMware tools utility. I have also tried from a command line and all I get is the Windows Installer popup. Now if I log into the server as a LOCAL ADMINISTRATOR, the upgrade runs successfully.
All servers are in the same AD OU and have the same policies applied. My account is an administrator on all servers. No errors in the event log. Not finding much on the communities or on Google. Has anyone else ran into this?
