How to determine which vmnic is actually active in a NIC team ?

Hi folks!

Does anyone know how to tell which vmnic is actually active at any one time in a NIC team ?

I was expecting the Networking link in the VI Client would do so, but obviously not :

My vSwitch team consists of 4 vmnics : vmnic0, vmnic2, vmnic4 and vmnic5. vmnic0 and 2 are the active ports for my VM port group. vmnic4 and 5 are standby. No unused adapters.

Now I disconnect the vmnic0 and 2 cables. The communication is going on its way, as I can still reach my VMs from the outside... So the failover has expectedly happened! But the VI Client shows the following :

- vmnic0 and 2 have a red cross, so they're down...

- vmnic4 and 5 do not show any speed/duplex settings like with usual active paths, only the "stand by" label, not more...

- Communication wires from the grey vSwitch block still leads to the red-crossed vmnic0 and 2

So my questions :

1) If the failover has occured, shouldn't that 'stand by' label be replaced by "1000 Full" or alike ?

2) Is there any CLI command from the SC that would show me whats's actually going on within that team ? I tried various esxcfg things like esxcfg-vswitch, esxcfg-nics, esxcfg-info, but none gave me something explicit and usable...

Best regards,

Pascal.
