Attempt to import from Virtual Appliance Marketplace gives "cannot find server" message

Recently installed ESX 3i 3.5.0 with VI Client 2.5.0.  The client connects fine and displays the expected management information from the server, but on selecting "Import a virtual appliance" and then "Import from the VMWare Virtual Appliance Marketeplace" a standard Internet Explorer "The page cannot be displayed" message appears instantly inside the import wizard window.  The text at the bottom is "Cannot find server or DNS error".

 

 

It's as if a hard-coded address for the Marketplace was invalid (or down, I suppose, but I'd have expected some delay before that happened) but there's no way of changing it.  Does anyone else see this, and can someone suggest where I might look for a resolution?  I've searched the forums and also the web without finding a hit on the various search terms I tried.
