This is my first post and my first official issue with VMWare ESX Server 3.5. Nice place, thanks for having me.
Environment:
Sun X4150, 2x2.3ghz Quad Core Xeon, 16gb memory
Qlogic QLE-4060C
DNF iSCSI SAN (www.dynamicnetworkfactory.com) Average SATA iSCSI Box running Falconstor.
VMWare ESX 3.5
Problem:
I've installed several VM's to the local disks and all are well. I can clone and migrate all day long.
When I use the SAN via the 4060 nothing works. I've copied, cloned and copied back. Anything that touches the SAN becomes broken.
When I use the software iSCSI initiator, no problems, works great.
I've upgraded the firmware on the 4060 (what a bear, take out the card, install it in a windows machine...yada yada)
I've installed Windows on the same box and no issues with the connection. No corruption, it just works.
I'm about to start reading every damned setting I can on the 4060 but it's a pain to pull the card, tweak, reinstall the card.

I've a pair of Sun X4200's with QLA-4050 and 4052 cards in them working just fine with ESX 3.5. This is my first go around with the 4060's
and I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions as to what to check? It can see the san, map the LUN's, create the store,
files copy and "look" correct but obviously have issues in their integrity. For example, when I copy a Solaris 10 VM to via
the 4060 to the SAN and try to boot it, every time I get a "Bad PBR Sig" on the console and it hoses. Windows VM's don't
boot, just hang on a blank screen. RHEL5 sits at the grub menu and can't see anything. Copying iso files via the 4060
to the SAN makes them non-usable. No booting from them at all.
Thanks for your time,
Doug
