Hi all
I have downloaded the ESX3.5 CD and tried to install it on an Intel server with a S5000VSA board. Unfortunately it comes up and says it is unable to find any hard disks to install on to. I have searched through these forums and have found other people with similar problems who have said it is because the Intel Embedded RAID II isn't properly supported. Other people have managed to fix it on the S5000PSL by adding the RAID activation key and the add-on RAID DIMM. We already have the activation key but unfortunately the RAID DIMM isn't an option on the S5000VSA so we can't buy this to fix the problem.
Does anyone have any idea if it is possible to get this working? I work for a VMWare reseller and I have plenty of hard disks lying around if it is a matter of installing to a single disk and then somehow patching in the Linux driver for the Embedded RAID II.
Anyone got any ideas?
