Hyperthreading Enabled (Not active)*

We are currently using DELL 2950's with dual but get the above message from the VMWVIC | Configuration | Processors screen

Model                           Intel(R) Xeon(R) X5355 @ 2.66GHz

Physical Processors    2

Proc Cores per socket 4

Hyperthreading            Enabled (Not active)*

Logical Processors       8

  • In order for ESX Server to activate Hyper-Threading, the host BIOS must also enable this feature.

How do we find out which DELL servers have BIOS's that do support HyperThreading ?

Is it a good idea to enable hyper threading or not ? and how do we enable it in the BIOS ?
