Using VMware vSphere Client to access VI 3. Can it be done?

Hi All

I'm trying to login to my VI 3 with VMware vSphere Client and I get the following messeges.

Messege when logging into ESX 3 Server:
The required cliant support files need to be retrived from the server "10.100.xx.xx" and installed. Click run the installer or save the installer.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

After download the pacages try and install and I get the following messege,

VMware Infastructure Cliant 2.5

Error; This product can only be installed on 32-bit operating systems.
