Vcenter 2.5x client on ESX 3.0.x

I've upgraded my vcenter from 2.0.2 to 2.5.0. Most of the servers reconnected just fine but some say "disconnected"

When I try to reconnect it fails to do so and on top of that shuts down all the VMs on the host in question and the only way out is to bounce the box.

I've tried the following

service mgmt-vmware restart

service vmware-vmkauthd restart

also tried

#rpm -e VMware-vpxa-2.0.2-50618

Tried readding to vcenter and still no go, all VMs get shut down and I'm forced to reboot the ESX host.

please help
