Hello,
I have a config here that involves two 3.5u1 hosts connecting to one storage switch via NFS and iSCSI (its netapp storage). My question is primarily on my configuration and whether it is best practice or not. Currently i have the iscsi and NFS working over the same vmkernel and with this NFS and iscsi seemed fine. I was able to see iscsi luns and vms are running on NFS, however, when doing a cold migration from NFS to iscsi, the migrations hang about 5 mins in. I believe this is due to the combining of iscsi and NFS over the same vmk portgroup and/or a needed config on the pswitch. My intent is to seperate the NFS to its own vmk and iSCSI to its own. Im also under the impression that the pswitch must have source mac (src-dest ip) set to enable any teaming of these NFS or iscsi connections as well with IP hash on the vswitch too. Am i correct with these configs? Any thoughts? Ultimately i would like to load balance NFS over 2 pnic and iSCSI the same, though im not sure if it can be fully acheived with iSCSI because of my software initiators.
thanks in advance all!
